What is the ZD421?

The Zebra ZD421 is a compact 4-inch desktop label printer built for direct thermal or thermal transfer printing, commonly used for shipping labels, retail tags, and barcode printing. Like most Zebra desktop printers, it relies on a Windows driver plus an optional configuration tool — the Zebra Setup Utilities (ZSU) or the newer Zebra Printer Setup Utility — to get installed, configured, and calibrated on a PC.

What you'll need before you start

A Windows 10 or 11 PC (the setup utility is Windows-only; macOS and Linux use different driver packages).
A USB, Ethernet, or Bluetooth connection to the printer.
Administrator rights on the PC to install software.
The printer's power cable and, if used, a network cable.
